One such software is the WordPress Software. WordPress is a simple, easy-to-use web logging software. It provides all the functionalities necessary to create and maintain a blog.
WordPress offers a step by step procedure to create a blog, starting from the fundamentals of blog creation using default templates, to complex tools like theme writing and template writing.
WordPress starts off with a glimpse of the default web page that the software creates for the user. This page is laid out in the default WordPress theme with a blue header, the body of the site following it, and the footer at the end.
At the side, there are navigation links for visitors to browse through the blog. The starting page of the blog is called the homepage. This is the page which is laid out in the default WordPress style. It contains the most recent posts on the blog. Upon clicking them, the link goes to another page, which gives a detailed view of the post.
WordPress allows users to maintain different categories for their posts, for easier readability. There is a tool for changing the layout of the page from the simple default style to a more customized, attractive theme which can be chosen by the user. This tool is present in the ‘Presentation’ menu. Next, WordPress provides an efficient method for posts.
There are two options, called ‘Write’ panel and ‘Manage’ panel. Within these panels, there are options to write posts, edit posts and manipulate the user’s web pages. The ‘Write Post’ option opens a text box into which the user can enter his post, and finally, by clicking the ‘Publish’ button, the post will be entered into the blog.
It is always advisable to segregate posts into categories. WordPress provides an easy categorization mechanism where the user can create categories to add his posts. In the ‘Manage’ menu, under the categories tab, there is an option called the ‘Add Category’ using which the user can create a new category.
In the category tab, the user can also edit, or delete his previous posts. After the basic process is over, the user can go to more complicated tasks like modifying the appearance of the web page and adding plug-ins. Appearance of the web page can be changed by modifying the theme, i.e. the layout style of the web page.
WordPress gives the user the option of choosing from a large collection of themes varying from those depicting juvenile and callous joy to those with an air of seriousness. WordPress plug-in admin helps the user to add plug-ins to his blog. Plug-ins are useful links that amuse the visitors.
They may be anything, like a link to a weather report page or a news article. All in all, WordPress is an indispensable software for a beginner which provides a comprehensive outlook to the various aspects of blog management, from simple post creation to complex web page modifications.
